| Lunch spot - Brookings, Oregon |
Cycling Notes:
A long, hard day's ride--83.3 miles, 5 hours and 40 minutes, average speed of 14.7 mph, and 3800 feet of climbing. Our friendly tail wind from yesterday turned into a couple of fairly tough hills, and eventually became a head wind welcoming us to California. Tomorrow looks like another tough one--only 70 miles planned, but a nasty 1000 foot climb will greet us soon after we leave Crescent City.
In Oregon we spent 364 miles on US 101, from the middle of the Astoria Bridge over the Columbia River to the California border. We're headed to an area where the towns are small and hotels harder to find, as well as some nasty hills.
To those of you who live in CA, beware--the PiKA Brothers Bike Tour may be coming to a town near you, and just in case you wondered, we love IPA beer and pasta.
Shout out - I'd like to give a shout out and thanks to Jan - owner of Chart Room Restaurant in Crescent City. What an amazing dinner - the food is fantastic, generous plates. Sits right on the harbor and over looks a family of sea lions. Thanks Jan - a P.E.O. friend.

So proud of you Daddy- love being able to follow along from the other side of the world. Love, Amanda and Declan
ReplyDeleteHi Patty - these blogs are wonderful! Looks and sounds like you're having a great time doing them. You've certainly raised the bar on yourself. A question - I think there was a comment about Tracy being a tire guy in a previous life. Being Akron, Ohio-raised I wonder what kind of tire guy? Jim (Wright)
ReplyDeleteI've got to say, teamwork is ultimate in this journey - the women are very important and doing a great job to keep you all rested, healthy and encouraged.
